Stickfighter Magazine Installation Instructions

The simplest option is to subscribe, this way you will receive an instant email with a link to a web browser containing the book for immediate viewing. The DNL Reader will install or update automatically on your computer as Stickfighter Magazine works off the most recent version. You will need to confirm this operation by clicking Yes to allow it to install.

All you need to do then, is right click and 'Save As' to a location on your hard drive for future viewing. Do not worry if you select X to close the book, you will also be reminded to save the book at this point.

Using the Navigation buttons at the bottom of the book, you will be able to turn single pages or skip to the front or back of the book, view contents page at any time, print the book, switch the black background on or off and minimise the book. Just hover over the buttons to see pop up text describing their uses.


PC Users

To view an online DNL book, please ensure that you are logged into Windows using an account which has permissions to install software, e.g. Administrator or Owner.

If you are downloading an issue directly from our website please ensure you have first installed the latest DNL Reader which is required to view the magazine. This installation process is only required once and will allow you to read all future publications of the magazine. (PC users only)

*When selecting a 'Magazine Download' button on the website you will be directed to a file sharing site where you will need to select 'Download Now' wait a few moments and then select 'Click here to download this file' to open and/or install the magazine to your hard drive. You can at this stage simply open the document to view it or download immediately. This will take approximately 2-3 minutes to load. Once you have saved the book you will have instant access without waiting.

In some cases during the installation process you may have a coloured bar appear at the top of your browser, this is your computer protecting you from unwanted downloads. Please click on the bar and allow active x plug-ins or allow blocked content.

If you have opened the book without saving, to save the book to your PC, right click on the book then, 'Save As' to your PC. When you want to view the book again in future, just double click on the Magazine file in the location that you saved it on your PC.*


Mac Users

Unfortunately there is not a native MAC reader to enable viewing of the DNL Magazine format that has been used.

The .exe version will work inside a PC emulator like Virtual PC for MAC and possibly Parallels for MAC. (Sorry we do not have access to a Mac to test this out, so any feedback regarding this would be sincerely appreciated). We have had to remove the flash content as the .exe file format does not view/play flash.

Also note, if you have an Intel based-Mac, you can use Apple's Bootcamp to run Windows as well as Mac OSX on the same computer.

Alternatively there is also a .PDF version of the magazine, but unfortunately some areas of the magazine will not be viewable and/or functional. You will sadly lose all of the interactivity and page turns from the book. So will not be able to enlarge pictures, view hidden documents and pictures which are layered in the DNL and EXE version or use the live links facilities. Also the Flash video content is only available on the DNL version of this magazine.

To experience the magazine in it's intended fully interactive state you will need to download the DNL version on a PC.

General Information

A DNL Reader is only required for the .dnl file format. The .exe format already has a reader built in, but has a few less viewing capabilities, which is why we prefer to use the DNL format. Please ensure you install the DNL Reader first or the magazine will not open.

For those that can only view the PDF format, we have included most of the interactive content that you have missed out on, like videos and links to our website, although we will also be looking into other options in the future.
